Lake Tapps is a man-made lake community which was first constructed as a reservoir for a hydroelectric plant which ceased power production in 2004. The lake was then sold to the Cascade Water Alliance and now supplies water to more than 400,000 residents. Cascade signed an agreement with Lake Tapps homeowners that guarantees full recreational lake levels throughout the summer. Many properties are waterfront and offer prices in the $400’s and $500’s depending on the number of bedrooms desired. Lake Tapps is located approximately 26 miles from Joint Base Lewis McChord.
